“Thin Red Line” Pen Blanks

The Thin Red Lines and Thin Blue Lines have a strip of red or blue running through the center of the blank. They are in stock and redesigned! I’ve improved the process of making the blanks, and have switched to a round design. They’re not only higher quality, you can get your pens turned even faster without having to knock the corners off first.

“The Thin Red Line” blanks honor our brave and hard working firefighters who serve and protect our country.

“The meaning of the Thin Red Line of Courage”

As firefighters are periled, they place their lives second to those they protect. They are forced to face their own fears and grasp for every ounce of courage to perform the necessary task. “The Thin Red Line of Courage” represents the last ounce of courage firefighters find deep in their blood to conquer their darkest fears in order to save and protect life and property. The firefighters from the Apex Volunteer Fire Department designed and developed the “The Thin Red Line of Courage” in 1999. Today, it is displayed to show respect for firefighters injured and killed in the line of duty

The Alumilite Advantage!
Alumilite is by far the best resin I’ve found for casting pen blanks. It’s a joy to turn, yet it polishes up to a high gloss. Finishing these blanks doesn’t get any simpler! Just sand it up to a high grit or use micro mesh pads, then finish it off with some plastic polish or on a buffing wheel.

GOOD BYE CHIPOUT!! Alumilite blanks are not brittle like many of the mass produced or polyester resin blanks on the market. The blanks are cast under pressure to ensure there are no voids or trapped air bubbles in the blanks.

These blanks are created using a laminating method. With proper turning techniques, these blanks will turn fabulous. Improper turning or machining techniques can lead to lamination failure, however. Make sure you are turning at high speeds (over 3,000 rpms) and only use sharp tools when turning. Also, make sure you get proper glue coverage and bonding along the entire length of the tube and blank. Adhesion problems can occur if there are large areas lacking glue coverage between the tube & blank.
